Launched in the November issue of Dental Practice, and to run until the March issue, is this fantastic new competition which asks all readers to put their photography skills to the test.
Entries must be original and in some way related to dentistry, and anything goes – but no Photoshopping is allowed. The judging panel will comprise a representative from Dürr Dental, a member of the Dental Practice editorial team and Phil Wander, who published an excellent series on dental photography in the journal, and what the judges want to see are examples of imaginative and creative photography, with attention paid to the things that make a great photo: lighting, perspective, depth of field, etc., and of course an eye-catching subject. We get enough pictures of teeth at DP Towers so hopefully this competition will stir up some interesting ideas. All readers are eligible to enter but there is a limit to four entries per person, all at once or spread across the duration of the competition.
1st prize: Panasonic Lumix DMC FX550
2nd prize: John Lewis vouchers – £150
3rd prize: John Lewis vouchers – £100
Entry criteria: postal submissions will be accepted in any size, but photos must be original (no negatives please) and photocopies/scans will not be accepted. Digital photos will be accepted on disc or via e-mail but must be high-resolution (300dpi) and labelled with the entrant’s name. Please remember to include all contact details.
Each month from December to February, a selection of the best photographs received will be published, with the final winner and runners-up being announced in the March edition.
